Bringing In The Cheese

I've moved, in fact all my most recent blogs have already been written to my new home at Sacred Digital

Murky memory of the church next to the duplex I grew up in...

When I was a little kid I visited church services in a pew-encrusted edifice a couple of times. I remember feeling FULLY bored but being FACINATED with the perfect little holes for the pencils, little bitterjuice cups and cough-up-the-bucks envelops in the back of the pew in front of me.

I also remember them singing some song that I thought said "bringing in the cheese bringing in the cheese we will come rejoicing, bringing in the cheese"... I later it found out it was bringing in the sheaves, but I like cheese better then and now.

The church's Sunday singing and special clothes had little effect on my spirit but I remember something that did, that pastorguy...His name was Sean Hankenson, he loved me, he gave me a cool comic called Doc Savage, let me and the boys play in the church hallways and best of all he let me ride my green Honda QA-50 minibike illegally in the church parking lot. He was showing me Jesus in a way that pews and cheese bringing singing never would have. Jesus thanks for Sean, make me like him.

BUSYAPATHY

I've moved, in fact all my most recent blogs have already been written to my new home at Sacred Digital
http://sacreddigital.com

BUSYAPATHY

I want to add a new word to the evangelical dictionary of terms. "Busyapathy". Busyapathy is a disease that effects millions of evangelicals and other followers of Jesus. Symptoms are overindulgence in church programs that put us into such overload we rush everywhere and see nothing of the needs around us. People who have this malady are often heard making the vocalization " hurry" to others in their family as they head towards the church campus. Blurry vision can be a problem. Some sufferers may be seeking to avoid contamination from the germs of those who have the "don't love Jesus syndrome". Busyapathy causes a dulling of the concern and feeling for those who are perishing without Jesus - sufferers are too busy invalidated with their illness to administer healing to others. Busyapathy is defined as APATHY towards reaching out in ongoing friendship to those not yet Christian because of the BUSYness of our over programmed church-ghettoed lives. "Church" subculture causes many followers of Jesus to find they have few real friendships with non believers (or for those still in school ) the relationships they have with non believers don't often point towards the excellent lifesaving Jesus. Be on guard for this sickness. I think I want to get healthier myself in this regard.

RX for Cure. Less church program gluttony, increased relationship time with those who are in need of the TRUE DOCTOR and a healthy balanced diet of worship and growth in local church services.

SACRED INK - Tattoo as language of faith

I've moved, in fact all my most recent blogs have already been written to my new home at Sacred Digital
http://sacreddigital.com

Tattoo is a strange art. Paying someone to cram (hopefully) sterile needles onto the tops of your nerve endings over and over for long periods of time, placing a permanent image on you that you'll have on your rotten ol corpse for monthes AFTER you die is, well strange. As some people know I started a project about 9 monthes ago called Sacred Ink. It is a web site where we will feature pictures of people who follow Jesus, and pictures of the tattoos of faith they wear. I asked these awesome people to talk about their tattoos and their belief in God and I recorded their beautiful moving testimonies. On the site these voices will speak over musical soundscapes as their photographed images and tattoos appear on the screen in Flash animation. It's looking like the artwork music and voice editting will be done and up on the site in the next 2 months.

The work is looking and sounding really cool. For non believers it will be a new way to hear about Jesus, from unlikely suspects. I'm spending most of my evenings editing audio, writing and recording short musical pieces and wondering how I got myself into this big of a side project! I hope many people will hear the message of faith in Jesus thru the people we have brought together in the Sacred Ink Conspiracy. Pray for it to be useful to HIM, 4 His glory.

Oh, yeah if you are young and thinking of getting a tattoo WAIT. Getting inked now will most likely end in asking questions like "what was I thinking getting the lyrics to My Humps tattooed on my lower back...seemed like a good idea at the time". I felt mature enough to start tattoos @ age 40, if you wait till you're 40, I'll drive ya over to True Art or Pat Fish's and pay for your ink myself. Send up a prayer for Sacred Ink?

Tattoo, very careful

I've moved, in fact all my most recent blogs have already been written to my new home at Sacred Digital

Some things are just sooooo my family:
I saw my niece's Japanese style tattoo ( my lovely niece's name is witheld) , this tat is hovering a bit above her bum.
I ask what does the Japanese character mean... She says I don't want to talk about it. After her father offered to tell a " story" she told me she was told the symbol meant LOVE in Japanese... BUT...A Japanese customer at her buisness saw her tattoo when she had bent over to pick something up and said...
Uhhhhh that DOESN"T mean love... After some research they found out that the symbol means... Prostitute in Japanese. True.
